YouTube Kids reference: platforms, controls, and limits

YouTube Kids is designed for a child-focused YouTube app with parent-managed content settings. The current vendor and platform pages below document its reach and constraints.

Where it works

Google provides YouTube Kids through mobile apps, a web experience, and supported television routes. Available settings can differ by device and whether the parent is signed in.

Documented controls

Parents can choose an age-based content setting, turn search off, disable autoplay, clear or pause history, block videos or channels, and use Approved content only to handpick videos, channels, and collections.

Limits to check

Google says its systems do not manually review every video and that a child may still find unwanted content. Approved content only gives the parent a smaller catalog, but it also creates more selection work.

Before installation

Match the child device and browser to the compatibility page. Check which permissions the child app needs, what information the service stores, and whether another account or guest browser sits outside the setup.
